In the slums of La Paz, poverty and poor living conditions especially affect children, who often suffer from maltreatment, discrimination and disease. Schools are not equipped with the facilities or pedagogical resources necessary to guarantee a quality education, and many children end up dropping out of school to help their families.
In addition to poor quality education, other factors such as access to healthcare, child labor and malnutrition hinder children's full development.
