ChildFund Deutschland in Burundi

There are thousands of street children in Burundi. In the capital Bujumbura alone, it is estimated that as many as 8,000 girls and boys are struggling alone - some of them as young as five or six years old. Many of these children have a home, a mother, a father or even both. With our commitment, we have allowed street children who have been displaced from home by poverty or violence to return safely to their families. Our local partner, the children's care organization OPDE, accompanies children in the long term and ensures that they are well cared for.
