ChildFund Australia in Cambodia

Learn more

Cambodia is still recovering from more than three decades of war, in which an estimated 1.7 million people were killed or died from forced hardships under the Khmer Rouge. Poverty levels are high, and child malnutrition, youth unemployment and human trafficking are major concerns. ChildFund Cambodia works with vulnerable children and their families in two provinces, Svay Rieng and Kratie. Programs initially focused on education, health, water and sanitation, local governance and safe migration, and have expanded to include initiatives that meet the specific needs of rural youth. In collaboration with the United Nations and other development agencies, ChildFund also helped set up Child Helpline Cambodia, a free national phone counselling service reaching children across the country.
