ChildFund Korea in Malawi

The Republic of Malawi is a landlocked country in southeast Africa that was formerly known as Nyasaland. It became the independent nation of Malawi in 1964.

Malawi is among the world's least developed countries. The economy is heavily concentrated in agriculture, and the population is largely. The government faces challenges in building and expanding the economy, improving education, health care, environmental protection and becoming financially independent.

Since 2005, Malawi has developed several programs that focus on these issues, and the country's outlook appears to be improving, with a rise in the economy, education and health care. However, the country is still facing poverty and corruption. These affect especially the most vulnerable populations: children, women and elders.

ChildFund Korea intends to launch a development program in Lilongwe, Malawi, to improve the quality of life of Malawian children and families who are deprived, excluded and vulnerable. We work in partnership with local partners in three key areas: water and sanitation; child protection; and education.
