ChildFund Deutschland in South Africa

In South Africa, ChildFund Deutschland supports several partners, with a focus on medical assistance for children and young people with disabilities. In addition, ChildFund Deutschland supports a number of social welfare projects, giving boys and girls who grow up without their own parents a decent future.

People with disabilities are still faced with fundamental difficulties in South Africa. There are, for example, not enough kindergartens or school facilities in which children with disabilities can be adequately supported. As a result, many of them do not find a job later and are not or only insufficiently integrated into society.

A particularly important cooperation partner is the Disability Relief Center Orion in Atlantis (Western Cape Province). The organization takes care of children, young people and adults with physical or mental disabilities. This is achieved by means of therapeutic measures, as well as by the creation of jobs – a holistic approach that corresponds to the "help for self-help" principle of ChildFund Deutschland's work.
